BSL Action CIC (Bob Sign Language Action Community Interest Company)
BSL Action CIC was founded in July 2014. Registered Company number:- 9133976. BSL Action CIC is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund to provide free BSL courses for people who struggle to communicate with deaf people or want a possible career in the deaf community.
Now BSL Action CIC is offering a free BSL Level 1 course funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
Maximum number of students per class: 16
Learn how to relate with people in the deaf community with British Sign Language. This free online course will teach you the important elements of British Sign Language. You will learn how to use simple sentences, finger spell places, names, and objects, and describe events in British Sign Language (BSL). You will develop an understanding of numbers, including prices and times, and explore everyday topics to discuss using BSL. You will engage in simple BSL conversations to enhance your communication skills.

At the end of the course you will receive accredited certification with Signature, www.signature.org.uk if you have successfully passed all Level 1 units. Candidates who achieve the BSL Level 1 can then apply for BSL Level 2 to continue their BSL studies In the same year.

Successful Level 2 candidates can apply for BSL Level 3 in the new academic year 2026-2027.

Eligible for Funding?
To be eligible for funding you must meet ALL the following criteria:
Unemployed (evidence and ID will be required)
Currently live in England
Aged 18 and over

We have limited spaces and will only consider those who fulfil ALL criteria as stated above. Please note that All BSL lessons will run on Thursday mornings, 9am – 12pm and this will not change throughout Levels 1, 2 and 3.
