Level 3 BSL Course Overview
3ASS1 Formal Presentation
You will be required to give a formal presentation in BSL. The presentation will be to assess your BSL fluency, your understanding of everyday language in a variety of situations and topics, an advanced knowledge of the structure and function of BSL and an understanding of the Deaf Community/Culture
3ASS2 Informal Conversation
This unit covers the learner’s receptive and productive skills, which will normally have been assessed in Units 3ASS1 and 3ASS3. It allows the candidate to put both skills together to demonstrate that they can understand and exchange information during a routine informal conversation with a BSL user, namely the teacher.
3ASS3 Receptive Skills
Learners can understand specific details from, and the general meaning of a range of information presented in sign language between two BSL users. They can understand complex signing, delivered at normal speed, with facial expressions, body language, etc.
The topics you will focus on are Home Life, Social/Recreational Activities, Education/Training, Employment, Consumer Issues/Daily Living, Deaf History/Culture.
You will be taught with encouraging and nurturing teaching methods and have a brilliant learning experience with group, pair and individual work/activities, online resources to support your learning experience and professional teaching to build on your receptive and productive skills
